1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information EquityHound ("we," "us," "our") collects, how we use it, and your choices. By using EquityHound, you agree to this Policy.

2. Information We Collect

• Account Information: your email address and a securely hashed password when you sign up.
• Usage Data: the stocks you analyze, watchlist entries, and feature usage, stored to provide the Service and enforce plan limits.
• Payment Information: if you subscribe to Pro, payment is processed directly by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number — Stripe shares only limited billing metadata (e.g., subscription status) with us.
• Device & Log Data: standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps, used for security and troubleshooting.
• Local Browser Storage: some preferences and cached data are stored in your browser's local storage to improve performance. This stays on your device and isn't transmitted to us.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• To process payments and manage subscriptions
• To send transactional emails (e.g., signup confirmation, billing receipts, password resets, cancellation confirmations)
• To enforce usage limits and prevent abuse
• To respond to support requests

We do not use your data for third-party advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

4. How Your Information Is Shared

We only share information with the service providers needed to run EquityHound: Stripe (payment processing), Anthropic (generates the AI analysis — stock-related queries only, not your personal account info), Finnhub (real-time market data), and Railway / MongoDB Atlas (hosting and database infrastructure). We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account stays active. If you delete your account, we'll delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.

6. Your Rights & Choices

You can: access or update your account information anytime via Account Settings; request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing support@equityhound.app; cancel your Pro subscription anytime from Account Settings.

7. California Privacy Rights

EquityHound doesn't currently meet the size thresholds that trigger the California Consumer Privacy Act's (CCPA) full requirements. That said, we voluntarily extend the core rights above — access, deletion, and no sale of personal data — to all users, regardless of location.

8. Children's Privacy

EquityHound isn't directed at, and shouldn't be used by, anyone under 18 years old. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures, including password hashing and encrypted connections, to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll communicate material changes by email or in-app notice.
